Spring cleaning includes my house – sometimes I do it in winter – and my writing folders, whether they be computer or paper.
Going through my writing projects helps to clarify topics I want to write in the future. I once tossed old project starts that I had no passion for anymore, and the feeling of being set free from this baggage was like a breeze flowing through my house.
My writer’s journal holds snippets of ideas. Most ideas will never see the light of day, but every once in a while I do pull it out and work on an idea. And when I don’t, it is fun sometimes to just read. To see my journey in black and white – or whatever color my pen is.
Likewise, my browser bookmarks and computer files. Most of the sites I save and categorize won’t see the light of day again, but it is a comfort knowing that they are there. My electronic index.
