When you hear the word passion you might think of the ardor of lovers, or what you feel about the work that you do. But the word is more multi-faceted.
In Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary of Old and New Testament Words (whew, what a long title!), one of the more interesting definitions was “nature” or “homeopathy.” In the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, another noticeable definition was “the state or capacity of being acted on by external forces.”
A lesser known definition is suffering. Jesus was so passionate about us, that he followed God’s plan to save us all, dying a cruel death on the cross.Makoto Fujimura’s A Letter to North American Churches
